    126. The Power of Pebbles & ANGELS | Patti DiMiceli

    126. The Power of Pebbles & ANGELS | Patti DiMiceli

Can you imagine how you would cope if your only child KNEW they were going to die, and you were only 27?
On The Beautiful Side of Grief today I get to speak to Amber's incredible mum, Patti DiMiceli who went through this with Amber at the tender age of 41/2.
    Amber was not afraid.
She even picked out the clothes she wanted to wear to Heaven
The story of how Patti and Amber prepared for this event - which she describes it as a Miracle, will bring tears to your eyes - so make sure you have some tissues handy before listening!
How Patti viewed this event is also profound -  it is one that has elevated and sustained her, and many others around the world, since Amber's death.

This is a beautiful conversation with a lady I consider an Angel herself with all the incredible work she is doing to ease the pain of others and bring light into their world.

(This is Part 1. Part 2 where we explore the many tools and resources Patti uses in helping others, will feature in Season 7).

    Patti's Bio
Born in the City of Angels (LA, California) at the Queen of Angels Hospital, Patti knew she was chosen at an early age, though she didn’t know why. And then she discovered a small lump behind her daughter, Amber’s ear, in August of 1979. It was a discovery that would change her life, her destiny, and the world. Her story, chronicled in Amber’s book, Embrace the Angel, challenges the notion of death and invites us to harness the power of “Crossing the Threshold” to enrich the lives of others…to transform this world for the better. Using the tools, skills, and talents given to her by The Divine, Patti created Tobias & Co. LLC, a company devoted to elevating others, offering hope and inspiration to the bereaved and critically ill, and sharing her unique creations that delight the senses, soothe the soul, and lift the spirit.

She has featured in the Associated Press, the Bridgeport Post, the National Enquirer, The Capital, Natural Health Village, the Milford Citizen, New Haven Register, the New Haven Advocate, and on The Morning Show NYC with Regis and Kathy Lee, Channel 30 News, New Haven, CT, Good Day Boston, WUSA News, Washington, DC, WBAL News, Baltimore, MD.
Patti has also been named Milford’s Renaissance Woman by the New Haven Advocate.

    Quote:
"I was standing in line getting something for Amber and I heard 'turn around', and I turned around and there was a big rack of keys, big golden keys, and the words, 'give this to Amber, and tell her it's the key to heaven'." ~ Patti DiMiceli

    125. FREEING MYSELF from a Lifetime with Narcissists | Dana Diaz

    125. FREEING MYSELF from a Lifetime with Narcissists | Dana Diaz

In this episode we explore the grief related to abuse - and more specifically narcissistic abuse. If you have a close relationship with your family - think for a moment what that relationship would look like if they set you for a lifetime of abuse as you were growing up, and then into your adulthood. Instead of giving you the love and support you deserved, they chose to cover their own tracks from possible exposure, by making you out to be the bad guy and supporting your abusive partner instead. Truly, It's enough to send anyone crazy! Having the courage to stand up for yourself and speak your truth becomes the death of your family and loved ones. To all intents and purposes - you are a whistleblower - and that's an incredibly courageous, risky, and heartbreaking situation to be in.

To find yourself - the trade-off is to lose your family.  This is what victims of abuse typically encounter when they leave their abusive situations, and there are probably some of you listening right now who will be able to relate to this.

So, if you have been set up for this type of situation, how on earth do you go about extricating yourself?
That is what Dana Diaz is going to share with us today. She is the author of Gasping for Air: The Stranglehold of Narcissistic Abuse detailing the many decades she endured this type of abuse. When she finally ended the cycle of abuse, she was exiled and ghosted by friends, family, acquaintances in her son's school and in her church. She takes us through that - including how to identify some red flags for anyone who might be in a similar situation, and why it is so important for anyone who is experiencing this type of abuse to do find their way out.

    Dana's Bio
Dana S. Diaz studied journalism and psychology at DePaul University. While there’s no better teacher than life experience and Dana has had life-long experiences with narcissistic abuse, her education did give her the ability to accurately verbalize and express how narcissistic abuse creates confusion and conflict within victims.
Today, Dana is a proud voice for fellow victims who are unable, afraid, or ashamed to share their experiences. She strives to create awareness and understanding to ensure victims are given the support they need to first understand their situation and then begin the healing process. Her first book, chronicling her own abusive marriage that lasted nearly three decades, started as a journal that she hid under the couch cushion in the basement.

    122. From PSYCH Unit to KimbleFit | John Kimble

    122. From PSYCH Unit to KimbleFit | John Kimble

Today I am talking to a young guy, John Kimble, who really ventured on the wrong side of life. He wanted to be a gangsta, he had no remorse around the things he did, he robbed houses, sold drugs, had addictions, had attempted suicide a couple of times, had multiple felonies and eventually ended up in a psych ward diagnosed as a sociopath. That's some heavy stuff to go through. Yet, he makes no excuses. He has turned that all around to now having his own fitness centre KimbleFit - and now helps others of all ages find the life they want - through the same means he helped himself.

This is an inspirational conversation of overcoming the self. To pause, center yourself, and reflect on who you are and where you want to head. It's about looking within and at your mindset. We go to grassroot levels of commitment, discipline, and being accountable... incredible wisdom from someone who is just 18 years of age!

And a heads up, we briefly touch on the theme of suicide ideation and what you can do around that.

    John's Bio
From psych ward and felonies to fitness trainer and life coach. Coming out to be CEO of KimbleFit, online personal trainer, life coach, and former amateur boxer. Going around helping people heal with their vices, addictions, fitness, nutrition, and mindset, just as he did himself.

    121. Ministering to Your OWN Grief | Rev. Jocelyn Jones

    121. Ministering to Your OWN Grief | Rev. Jocelyn Jones

Sometimes we can just be too close to a situation. We don't want to see what is right in front of us. This was true for Rev. Jocelyn when she was facing her beloved father's battle with Alzheimer's. She initially didn't want to see her strong, capable, and loving dad was having issues with memory loss right before her eyes. When she did face it, however, she decided that she was going to her best, along with her brother, to find the happy moments and memories in this journey, as well as supporting their mum, who was his primary caregiver.

This is a great conversation about being human, and being vulnerable, even when you supposedly have all the tools, knowledge, and expertise, as Jocelyn does in the field of trauma and grief. It highlights how you can bring joy into a situation that seems overwhelming. How you can also use these opportunities to ask all those questions you've always wanted to know the answers to. This is also a wonderful conversation around caregiving and how to support your loved ones in that role. Enjoy!

    Jocelyn's Bio
Jocelyn is an author, speaker, and entrepreneur. Jocelyn's background as a journalist, executive director of a nonprofit, and community leader allows her to connect with people from all walks of life. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in journalism. After receiving her B.A., she earned her master's degree in social work and her master's degree in theological studies. Jocelyn published her first book in 2019, called Breaking the Power of the Mask.
Jocelyn is an ordained minister and the President of Faith on the Journey, a Christian Counseling company specializing in grief and trauma. She is a Master Facilitator with the Trauma Healing Institute and the founder of the Women in the Ministry which helps women to start, grow, and sustain transformative ministries that change the world.
